you are not on your own booklet front coverIn partnership the Office of the Children’s Commissioner, Stars National Initiative published You are not on your own, the first booklet for use by children affected by a parent or carer who drinks alcohol excessively. We have recently (June 2015) revised and updated the original booklet.

You are not on your own is designed to help children to have discussions with professionals working with them, or with an adult they trust, about a parent or carer's drinking. It aims to help them talk about problems being caused in their lives (and those of their families) by a parent or carer's alcohol use.

The booklet is available as a free online resource. It is intended to facilitate adults’ support for children, and to address ways to keep them safe from harm.

Hard copies are also available to purchase from us. Please contact us for details.

Read a letter to stakeholders from the Children's Commissioner for England and The Children's Society about this booklet.
